Here is a simple burger recipe from Steven Raichlen:
1. Divide the meat into 6 equally portioned patties 2. Set up the grill for direct cooking and preheat to high 3. If using onion slices, brush both side with butter and season with salt and pepper. Grill until nicely browned, then transfer to a plate 4. Brush one side of the meat patties lightly with butter and season with salt and pepper. Arrange buttered sides down on the hot grate and grill until bottoms are nicely browned, 4 – 5 minutes 5. Brush and season the tops. Then turn the burgers and grill until cooked to taste, 4 – 5 minutes longer for medium 6. Brush the cut sides of the buns with the remaining butter and toast them on the grill during the last 2 minutes 7. Serve the burgers and onion on buns with your choice of toppings Everyone “adjusts” to make this basic their own but it is always good to have a solid recipe to start with! Happy Grilling!
